Well, apparently in the western world, there are some people who achieve sexual satisfaction from briefly choking themselves into unconsciousness. They later come round and resume their daily activities as if nothing has happened.

Latest indications, according to Daily Mail, are that the Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro did not willingly kill himself. In the absence of a woman, he was merely trying to amuse himself before things went fatally wrong.

A report from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction says Castro's pants and underwear were pulled down to his ankles when he was found.

It also says Castro did not leave a suicide note and 'multiple levels of assessment' did not find tendency toward suicide.

When you think you have heard it all, something else pops up. There is no end to the disorders that afflict these ‘oyinbos’, sha.

In our part of the world, when is any choking, it usually involves an enemy, and it is not so that the enemy would be sexually stimulated. It is usually so that the enemy will be dead!

Cat caught smuggling mobile phones into prison

A cat has been trained to smuggle mobile phones into prisons, but was caught by prison officials during its latest visit.

The cat was caught on Friday while climbing the fence of a Penal Colony near the city of Syktyvkar, the capital of the northern Republic of Komi.

 

"Two packages were taped to the animal's back. When the packages were unwrapped, guards found objects prohibited in the penitentiary facility - two cell phones with batteries and chargers," the Republic of Komi penitentiary service department said in a statement posted on its website.

 

Cats are sometimes used by Russian inmates to deliver drugs, although this is thought to be the first time they have been caught smuggling phones into this particular prison.

 

The fate of the cat is unknown, the RIA news agency added.

Bill Gates offers N15.8 million for ‘magic' condom

Bill Gates has offered $100,000 (about N15.8m) for anyone to come up with “next generation condom that significantly preserves or enhances pleasure, in order to improve uptake and regular use.”

Last year, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) selected a reinvention of the toilet that functions as a solar-powered wastewater treatment system. Now, Gates is challenging inventors to use improvements in materials science to develop a condom that feels good.

The idea is that, as reliable and easy-to-use as condoms are, men supposedly experience more pleasure having bareback sex than they do using a condom. The challenge asks:

Is it possible to develop a product without this stigma, or better, one that is felt to enhance pleasure? If so, would such a product lead to substantial benefits for global health, both in terms of reducing the incidence of unplanned pregnancies and in prevention of infection with HIV or other STIs?

The challenge states that condoms have been in use for around 400 years, and have not improved in the past 50 years. However, the scientific advances made in the past 50 years, the initiative reads, have not been applied to this important area:

Material science and our understanding of neurobiology has undergone revolutionary transformation in the last decade yet that knowledge has not been applied to improve the product attributes of one of the most ubiquitous and potentially underutilized products on earth.

A better feeling condom could go a long way to convincing some men that they might as well roll one on before sex, if only for their own safety.

Playboy founder Hefner marries for third time at 86

Apparently, this man will be a playboy till he dies.

Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner has reportedly tied the knot for the third time, marrying a former Playmate 60 years his junior in an intimate New Year's Eve ceremony at the Playboy Mansion.

Hefner, 86, and Crystal Harris, 26, announced the nuptials on their Twitter feeds -- @hughhefner and @crystalhefner -- and posted pictures of the wedding.

"Happy New Year from Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hefner!" Hefner said in a message accompanied by a picture of the octogenarian sporting purple pyjamas and a captain's hat and the blonde Harris in her wedding dress.

Harris posted a picture on her own Twitter feed of the ceremony conducted under an archway of red, pink, purple and white flowers.

"Today is the day I become Mrs Hugh Hefner. Feeling very happy, lucky, and blessed," she tweeted shortly before the wedding.

Hefner and Harris had planned to marry in 2011 but she called off the ceremony at the last minute.

Police in Africa's last absolute monarchy Swaziland have banned women from wearing miniskirts and midriff-revealing tops, saying they provoke rape, local media reported on Monday.

Offenders face a six-month jail term under the ban, which invokes a colonial criminal act dating back to 1889.

"The act of the rapist is made easy, because it would be easy to remove the half-cloth worn by the women," police spokeswoman Wendy Hleta was quoted as saying in the Independent Online news.

The ban also applies to low-rise jeans.

"They will be arrested," she said.

Hleta said women wearing revealing clothing were responsible for assaults or rapes committed against them.

"I have read from the social networks that men and even other women have a tendency of 'undressing people with their eyes'. That becomes easier when the clothes are hugging or are more revealing," Hleta said.

However, the ban does not apply to traditional costumes worn by young women during ceremonies like the annual Reed Dance, where the ruling King Mswati III chooses a wife.

The flamboyant king already has 13 wives.

During the ceremony, beaded traditional skirts worn by young bare-breasted virgins only cover the front, leaving the back exposed. Underwear is not allowed.

The law was enforced after a march by women and young girls last month calling for protection against a spate of rapes in the impoverished kingdom, almost entirely surrounded by South Africa.

Current holder of the Guinness record of the world’s tallest teen at 6ft 8in, Elisany da Cruz Silva, 17, has found love.

Elisany is in a relationship with Francinaldo da Silva Carvalho, 22, who stands at 5ft 4in.

And such love comes with a high price – he has to practically stand on his toes and crane his neck to get a kiss.

The construction worker said: “My friends say things like, ‘How do you hug her?’. I say, ‘There’s a way of doing everything’.”

Elisany, an aspiring model from Salinopolis, Brazil, is just an inch taller than Stoke City’s Peter Crouch — she has a form of gigantism due to a tumour on her pituitary gland.

She grew faster than her seven siblings from the age of 11 and hit 6ft 9in when she was 14. But her sudden growth caused pain in her limbs and joints.

Surgeons removed the gland two years ago and she shrank by an inch — but she could still not fit on the school bus and had to quit school due to teasing.

But she’s happy now with Francinaldo. She said: “What really attracted me was his personality, the way he acts with people and the way he acts with me.

“The only thing that really affects us is when we hang out holding hands — it seems like he is my little brother or son.”

We raped women who couldn’t pay our fare- Taxi drivers tell court

There is no end to the excuses criminals will make when the law catches up with them. A father and son accused of raping 10 women while pretending to be taxi operators in Guateng South Africa have been convicted  in spite of their spirited but ridiculous defence.

Booi  Makhubela and his son, Rodgers put up a spirited defence, namely that they only raped only the women who could not pay.

The Makhubelas also claimed that some of the women they raped were prostitutes, while others had agreed to have sex with them for money. They also claimed that in some instances the sex was to make up the difference for the taxi fare!

They were convicted on 39 counts of rape, assault, kidnapping and robbery committed between 2008 and 2009 in the Johannesburg High Court.

Judge Roland Sutherland said while he noted that Booi did not rape some of the women, his involvement in the crimes was obvious.

"He lured all the women and pointed out which taxi they should board and he was the driver of the taxi," Judge Sutherland said.

Booi was found guilty on 14 counts of rape, six of robbery with aggravating circumstances, nine of kidnapping and one of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

His son was convicted on 12 charges of rape, eight robberies - seven with aggravating circumstances, eight of kidnapping and two of assault.

The court heard that the Makhubelas were part of a four-man gang that targeted women who were looking for transport between Pretoria and Johannesburg.

After the women had boarded their "taxi", they kidnapped, robbed, assaulted and raped them.

One of their accomplices, Issack Nxumalo, is already serving a 20-year jail term after he confessed to the crime.

Also charged separately is Makhubela's nephew, Collins Chauke, whose case is currently being heard in the Alexandra Regional Court.

Though it is alleged that the four men committed the crimes together, the National Prosecuting Authority decided to separate Chauke and Nxumalo cases from that of the Makhubela's.

Okada rider strips to evade arrest

A 42-year old commercial motorcycle operator popularly called Okada rider, Mr. Sunday Udoh, yesterday, stripped himself when a team of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Agency Taskforce attempted to arrest him for violating the road traffic law.

Udoh who was subsequently arrested at about 10:30 a.m. on Acme Road, Ikeja, immediately stripped to evade impounding of his motorcycle by the task-force led by the chairman, Superintendent, Bayo Sulaimon .

According to Kunle Olatunde, an eyewitness, “the task-force arrested him and two other Okada riders.     But immediately he was arrested, Udoh stripped himself to attract public sympathy.

“Despite the fact that he was not manhandled when he was arrested, he removed his clothes and wore them back.”

 The incident resulted in a gridlock along the ever busy road.

 Speaking to Vanguard after his arrest, Udoh said: “I didn’t know when and the reason I stripped myself. I was unconscious for several minutes. It was an hour after that I was told what happened after I was arrested.”

 According to him; “I collected the Okada from a friend on hire  purchase at N45, 000. Also, I have a wife and two children to feed; all these resulted to my temporary madness.”

Speaking, leader of the task-force, Sulaimon said that Udoh was arrested by the team because he violated the new road traffic law.

He said: “We did not touch him. We gave him several minutes to do whatever he wanted to do. And his behaviour then caused a traffic jam on the road.”

Man sues wife for being ugly .... and wins

When husband Jian Feng saw his newborn baby for the first time he was horrified.

The girl was so ugly he refused to believe he and his stunning wife could have produced such a child.

And he rounded on his partner, accusing her of having an affair.

But she told him the terrible truth. Her good looks were due to £62,000 of plastic surgery and the baby was indeed theirs.

According to the Mirror, furious Feng took her to court claiming she had tricked him into marriage – and won his lawsuit.

Feng said: “I married my wife out of love, but as soon as we had our first daughter, we began having marital issues.

“Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me.” He told lawyers his wife had fooled him by having plastic surgery to make her beautiful and it was only the birth of their daughter that gave her away.

Incredibly, the court agreed and awarded Feng £75,000 after his wife admitted she had not told him about the surgery.

A judge in the northern Chinese court said she had tricked Feng into marrying her – and also granted a divorce. He ruled that since Feng had not been aware of the surgery, his wife had used “false premises”.

When you think you have heard it all, another queer one hits you in the face.

 

A popular south African businessman and his wife are currently recuperating in a Pretoria hospital after a gun man shot them for not complying with his demand.

But forgive the businessman for being confused, it is not the sort of demand armed men make of their victims very often. This particular gunman requested the businessman and his wife to undress and make love for his entertainment!

The yet unidentified Pretoria man stormed into the hotel room of businessman Prosper Mkwaiwa and his wife Tina and ordered them to make love in front of him or face the barrel.

 After dilly-dallying, the two were shot in their right legs and were rushed to Legae Medi-Clinic in Mabopane, north of Pretoria, where they are recuperating.

According to Sundayworld,  the incident happened at the Morula Sun Casino in Mabopane on Friday night.

Speaking to Sunday World from his hospital bed, Mkwaiwa says he was lying on the bed in the hotel room waiting for Tina, who was with her friends in another room.

He says after a few minutes Tina waltzed into the room with another man wearing a security uniform.

"I thought the guy was escorting her because he followed her into the room but I was wrong," he says.

Mkwaiwa says the man closed the door, drew his firearm and ordered Tina to lie prostrate on the cold floor.

 

He said the man pointed the gun at him and told him he was going to kill him and his wife and then turn the gun on himself.

"I asked him 'what is the problem? Do you want money? Tell us so we can sort you out and you can leave us alone'.

"He then took the magazine out and said 'you see I'm removing other bullets from the magazine and only three will remain in it. One is for you, one for her and one for me'.

"I pleaded with him not kill us and tell us what it is that we had done to him.

"He simply said 'I know who you are, guys, that's why I came here for you'," says Mkwaiwa, who is sporting a shiner.

Tina, who was lying on a bed next to her hubby's at the hospital, interjected: "He said 'I want you guys to make love in front of me'. Imagine me undressing and making love to my husband in front of him! I was so scared. That man is sick upstairs. Why would somebody do that to us? We don't have enemies," she said, crying hysterically.

Mkwaiwa, who was staring into the air as Tina was relating her version, also interrupted: "You know this man held us hostage for about an hour as we pleaded with him not to kill us.

"But as I was talking to him he kept on moving the gun from his left hand to his right one and then from the right to left one. It's like it was too heavy for him.

"When he repeated that we should make love in front of him, I jumped and grabbed the hand that was holding the gun. A bullet went out and hit her in the leg. He then turned the gun towards me and shot me twice in my right leg," he says, grimacing.

Mkwaiwa says he eventually wrenched the gun from the assailant.

"He then hit the glass door with his head and disappeared.

"I'm glad I rescued my wife and we are both alive.

"You can imagine what could have happened if I hadn't grabbed the gun from him. He would have probably shot and killed us," he says.

Mkwaiwa says they were rushed to the clinic in an ambulance called by the hotel management.

Study confirms African men are endowed

Well, it’s no myth now. African men are more endowed below the belt than their brothers on other continents.

A controversial new Penis Size Study purportedly conducted in 113 countries sets out to show 'who comes out on top' - when erect.

At the top of the list is the Democratic Republic of the Congo, whose men boasted an average of 7.1 inches.

Closely following them were Ecuadorians at 7.0 inches, Ghanaians at 6.8 inches; and Colombians at 6.7 inches.

In Europe, Italians were at the top of the list, with 6.2 inches.

South African men came in at 6 inches.

Next was Greece, at 5.8 inches and Germany at 5.7 inches. Britons measured in at 5.5 inches, beating out the French, who measured 5.3 inches.

Australia came in at 5.2 inches, and America came in at 5 inches.

Rounding out the list were North and South Korea, who both measure, on average, 3.8 inches.

But the study is not without its share of controversy – and not just because of the subject matter itself.

The paper was written by Richard Lynn, who mainly based the information from his study on a website. The website had ostensibly collected data on penis size from 113 countries, but it had not been verified by academics. Lynn is a professor emeritus at Ulster University in Northern Ireland and is a controversial figure in science, particularly due to his thesis which claimed that certain races have evolved to be more intelligent than others.

Jelte Wicherts, a professor of methodology at the Netherlands’ Tilburg University, said to The Sunday Times, “This is a brave paper in a controversial area but the data has no methodology and Lynn’s paper should not have been published”.

Penis size seems to be a bit of a preoccupation for men, causing a healthy industry that claims to have various methods of enlarging the male organ. Interestingly though, there is a significant number of men who claim to have small penises but are in fact quite normally endowed. Penile enhancements can come with a host of complications and side effects.

Richard Lynn’s study will be published in the journal Personality and Individual Difference.

Man sues prostitute for overdoing her work

A man in Germany has sued a prostitute he took home, accusing her of going beyond brief.

The gentleman hired a dominatrix for a night of painful pleasure, entailing him tying up and sensually punishing him. He told a Cologne district court  the lady put a knife to his throat before demanding his debit card and PIN number.

Cologne district court spokesman Dirk Esser said the plaintiff, a 49-year-old undertaker, also said the woman had detained him against his will for five hours.

The court decided that it was impossible to know for sure what really happened because both parties had consumed too much cocaine during their encounter.

It dropped the charges but ordered the prostitute to pay 200 euros to a local charity that supports crime victims as a penance.

The 35-year-old mother of four has been in pre-trial custody for the past five weeks, but declined to be compensated for time spent in jail, Esser said.

The dominatrix denied keeping the man against his will, adding that he had also asked if a transsexual colleague could join them.

 

Restaurants remove urinals shaped like woman's mouth

A sumptuous new French restaurant in Sydney said it would remove two urinals designed to resemble a woman's lipsticked mouth, apologising for any offence they have caused.

The Ananas Bar and Brasserie said the bright red-lipped urinals shaped like an open mouth were "a commonly used European design piece from female Dutch artist Meike van Schijndel".

"We sincerely apologise if they have caused offence. They are being removed today," a spokeswoman said in a statement.

The stylish restaurant opened three weeks ago, with the Sydney Morning Herald's food reviewer describing the urinals as "no real surprise here at Ananas, merely adding to the extraordinary collision of statements and intent".

But feminist, former political adviser and writer Anne Summers said the design was offensive. "Misogyny is very widespread, and this is just an example of misogyny," said Summers.

"The concept is pretty challenging and confronting. They're asking men to put their dicks in these mouths as urinals."

Australia is the grip of a fierce political debate about sexism after Prime Minister Julia Gillard, the nation's first woman leader, accused opposition leader Tony Abbott of being a misogynist.

The unmarried Gillard said Tuesday she had been personally offended by many of Abbott's remarks over the years -- from urging her to "make an honest woman of herself", to his cat-calling at her in parliament.

"If he wants to know what misogyny looks like in modern Australia, he doesn't need a motion in the House of Representatives, he needs a mirror," she said in stinging comments.

Turkish rescue workers retrieved an inflatable sex doll from the Black Sea after police were notified by panicked residents who mistook it for a woman's body floating offshore, Milliyet newspaper reported.

 

Police cordoned off a wide stretch of beach in northern Samsun province and sent a team of divers into the water to rescue what appeared to be a drowning woman, it said.

 

The team quickly discovered it was in fact a blow-up doll, which they deflated before throwing in the garbage, the daily said.

 

It was not clear where the blow-up doll had come from.

 

The Black Sea is a key tourism destination for Turks and also sees busy international maritime shipping traffic.

Sunday-Sunday rapist jailed 5 life terms

A South African man who abducted and raped girls on Sundays has been convicted of murder and rape and sentenced to five terms in prison.

Johannes Jacobus Steyn was found guilty on 33 charges, including murder, in the high court sitting in Alberton on the East Rand yesterday. Judge Sita Kolbe found him guilty on all but four of the 37 charges brought against him. The charges included rape, sexual assault, kidnapping and attempted sexual assault.

Abductions took place between 2008 and 2011, and the girls were aged between 11 and 18.

Earlier today, the court was told that Steyn is a psychopath.

Clinical psychologist Francois Visser said he believed Steyn lacked remorse and empathy, had poor self-control, and was a pathological liar who lived in a fantasy world.

“He has no regard for others... He is selfish and self-centred,” said Visser.

“He also accepts no responsibility for his actions.”

Visser said he believed Steyn was not only a danger to society, but also a danger to his wife.

He told the court that in his experience as a psychologist, he had never heard of a rehabilitated psychopath.

Steyn had refused to meet with the psychologist. Therefore, Visser’s report was compiled through information and documents from the police.

A woman who had an extra-marital affair with Steyn, testified that he had started writing a book on his life since his arrest.

She said he hoped to get rich once it was published.

The woman, who cannot be named, read portions of a 23-page letter she had received from him in March while he was in custody.

“Yes, I am guilty... Don’t give this letter to the police,”she read.

In the letter, Steyn said he had engaged in oral sex with 17-year-old teenager Louise de Waal as they drove to his house.

“It wasn’t her first,” he claimed.

The packed courtroom gasped as they heard the details.

Louise’s mother, Shireen de Waal, cried as she lay on the shoulder of a comforter.

Throughout the letter, Steyn referred to parts of the Bible, quoting scriptures of him being a “new creation”.

He said there was a demon living in him.

The court also heard that Louise de Waal was not Steyn’s initial target on the day she was murdered.

In his letter, Steyn claimed that De Waal was too old. His target had been girls between 12 and 14 years who were wearing a “short skirt and had nice legs”.

He said he was distracted and therefore settled for De Waal.

Steyn kidnapped De Waal in October last year as she walked to school. Her charred remains were found in an abandoned resort in the Maropeng area.

Steyn’s former lover said the man who surfaced in the letter was not the man she had known.

“I realised the person I knew before the arrest was a lie... He was a very happy-go-lucky man, a gentleman who was always willing to help, respectful and religious...,” she said.

De Waal’s mother said she wished him a billion times more suffering than she experienced.

In a letter to Steyn, she said: “You are the most despicable, disgusting human being... You’ve managed to destroy my life and those of many young girls... You took her life in the most horrible way.”

Looking in Steyn’s direction, Shireen said she wished he never found peace.

“May you never find peace and forgiveness in the Bible you carry to court...

“I take pleasure in knowing you’ll never know your son.

“I’ll miss my daughter’s Matric dance, 18th and 21st birthday, her wedding and first baby but my daughter is dead, your son is alive.”

It was not the first time Steyn had been in trouble with the law because of sexual offences.

It was revealed that during some of his attacks, which took place on Sundays, he was supposed to be performing community service.

Stowaway man falls from plane's landing gear

A man is believed to have fallen to his death from thousands of feet in the sky when a British Airways plane he was hiding in dropped its landing gear on approach to Heathrow Airtport.

Police believe the man is in his 30s and of North African descent. He could have fallen from about 2000 feet in the sky, landing on a car in a plush London suburb under the Heathrow flight path.

Aviation experts say he was probably dead before he hit the ground either because he had been crushed by the retracting landing gear shortly after the plane took off or because of the extreme cold at high altitude.

It is thought the man’s body dropped from the aircraft undercarriage as the plane came in to land.

Residents on the tree-lined road in Mortlake, on the south bank of the Thames less than ten miles from the airport, yesterday spoke of their shock on finding the body after hearing a loud bang.

Billy Watson, 26, a security guard who lives opposite where the man fell, said he saw the body ‘all twisted up’.

He said: ‘It is unbelievable. The first thing I thought when I saw the body was that it must have fallen from quite a height.

‘You could tell by the way his body was mangled. There was a big pool of blood coming from his head.’

Last night, others said they were amazed blood could still be seen on the family street. Catherine Lambert, a mother of two, said it was ‘disgusting’ that the scene had not been cleared up.

‘It’s shocking you can still see splatters of blood,’ she said, adding that the body was left uncovered by police for ‘a good few hours’ after it was found.

She said: ‘We just wonder what made him get in that plane and want so badly to escape.’ Another resident, who did not wish to be named, said: ‘No one saw him fall because it was early on a Sunday morning.

‘Whatever he was trying to escape from must have been horrendous to make him do that.’

Richard Taylor, of the Civil Aviation Authority, said a stowaway in an aircraft undercarriage was unlikely to have survived as he would either be crushed by the wheels after take-off or freeze in temperatures as low as minus 40C (minus 40F).

He said: ‘The chances of survival for a stowaway are very slim, particularly in the recess of the landing gear.

‘I don’t know of anyone who has survived being stowed away on a long-haul flight.

‘When the landing gear comes down at the other end, a few miles from the runway and about 2,000ft in the air, if there is a person who had died they would fall out.’

Police said they were investigating whether the body was that of a stowaway.’

The discovery comes just over a fortnight after the body of a stowaway was found in the landing gear recess of a BA plane arriving at Heathrow from Cape Town.

Mum of identical quadruplets adopts queer approach to distinguish them

The mother of identical quadruplet boys have shaved numbers into their hair to help teachers and classmates tell them apart.

Mum Tan Chaoyun, of Shenzen in China’s Guangdong Province, shaved the six-year-olds’ heads with the numbers one to four.

She took the drastic step before they started elementary school because she was worried the boys would get mixed up.

“My sons are identical, even to me,” said Tan who reckons the only difference between them is the shape of their eyelids.

“I could only tell the difference between them by having different ankle tags on them before they turned 18 months old.

“Even now, their father can’t tell which one is which.

"Sometimes he punishes the second one for something the third one has done.”

A 26-year-old Turkish woman is awaiting trial in Turkey for shooting and beheading her alleged rapist.

 

Nevin Yildirim, a mother of two from Turkey's Yalvac district, faces charges of murder for the August killing of 35-year-old Nurettin Gider. Yildirim, according to CNN, is at least five months pregnant and claims she was rape-impregnated by Gider.

 

Yildirim told police that Gider, a father of two who was married to her husband's aunt, first raped her in January, when her husband left town to work a seasonal job.

 

Yildirim said Gider threatened to kill her children if she alerted anyone to the crime. The rapes allegedly continued over the course of the next several months and Gider reportedly threatened to publish photos he took of Yildirim's pregnant body if she did not do as he said, Turkish broadcaster DHA reported.

 

On Aug. 28, Yildirim claims she spotted Gider climbing up a wall behind her house and grabbed a rifle that was hanging on the wall.

 

"I knew he was going to rape me again," Yildirim said at an Aug. 30 preliminary hearing.

 

Yildirim allegedly shot Gider twice and chased him from her property. She claimed in court he was armed at the time.

 

"He fell on the ground. He started cussing," she said. "I shot his sexual organ this time. He became quiet. I knew he was dead. I then cut his head off."

 

Witnesses told police they saw Yildirim walk into the village square, carrying Gider's bloody head by his hair.

 

"Don't talk behind my back, don't play with my honor," Yildirim allegedly told witnesses in the square as she threw Gider's head to the ground. "Here is the head of the man who played with my honor."

 

Authorities arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and Yildirim was taken into custody without incident.

 

"He kept saying that he would tell everyone [about the rape]," Yildirim told authorities, according to Doğan News Agency. "My daughter will start school this year. Everyone would have insulted my children. Now no one can."

 

"I saved my honor," she added. "They will now call [her children] 'the kids of the women who saved her honor.'"

 

According to CNN, Yildirim went to a health clinic for an abortion prior to the murder but was turned away because she was 14 weeks pregnant at the time. In Turkey, abortion is only permitted during the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. Anything beyond that requires a special circumstance.

 

Turkey's abortion debate has now been re-kindled as the public prosecutor's office considers Yildirim's request. Authorities are waiting for experts to weigh in on her mental stability.

 

"The extremity of Nevin's actions show the extent of the trauma the rape has caused," Dr. Gürsel Öztunalı Kayır, Foundation for Women's Solidarity, told International Business Times. "We shouldn't be distracted by the murder; if she wants to have an abortion following months of abuse, she should have the right."
